Carrie 1976

The very first scene in Carrie it opened with a hight angle shot/ birds eye view of the girls playing volleyball, by using this shot it gives the audience an idea where the film is going to be set.
The following scene was the famous shower scene. This scene started with a pan through the girls changing rooms in slow motion, I think this scene gives the audience a false vision on what a girls changing rooms is like because girls in changing rooms don't go around naked and they don't play around with each other.

The shower scene where Carrie starts her period I think there was different cuts used to make the scene look a little more dramatic. When Carrie is washing herself there was jump cuts used from when she was washing her chest to her legs. During this part of the scene close ups were used to show Carrie washing herself. In my opinion I think that the the camera angles used in this scene made it look dramatic and made the audience feel like something bad was going to happen and later on it did.  When Carrie ran out of the changing rooms with blood on her hands the camera was behind her giving the sense that the audience is on her side when all the other girls in the changing room are just laughing at her. High and low angles were used when the other girls were throwing pads and tampons at her, the high angle made the audience feel like they were on of the horrible girls. Also when the low angle was used it put the audience in Carrie's shoes and made them feel vulnerable and bullied.
When the teacher came to stop the bullying and calm Carrie down, I thought this was a very important scene becuase at this point it was made clear that the film was horror. Carrie gets angry and screams and while she screams she blows the light and psycho strings play, the psycho strings give away that the film is horror.
